Next week will be a good week for music.
The re-release of Robbie Seay Band's Better Days comes out on Tuesday. Audio clips are available on the band's website, and they make this sound like a really promising album. RSB is one of the two or three best Christian acts at the moment, but they have yet to achieve much commercial success. The new album has better hooks and a slightly more mainstream sound than did the indie version of Better Days. RSB will be touring with Shane & Shane and David Crowder Band in the fall.
Speaking of DCB, they've been busy as of late. Their new album A Collision releases at the end of September. A full-length cut of "Here Is Our King" (sure to be the first single) can be heard at the band's Myspace site. It has a much fuller sound than the version on the last Passion CD - clearly they've put a lot of work into the song since then. DCB can also be heard doing a re-make of Michael W. Smith's song Secret Ambition on this tribute CD as well as the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack that's supposed to come out later this month.
Bethany Dillon's new album also comes out next week. She made a big splash at age 15 when her mostly self-written (and very well-done) debut album came out in April 2004. She's a very competent songwriter with tons of potential, although Imagination (the new album) doesn't demonstrate as much musical growth as I was hoping for. Keep an ear on Dillon nonetheless.
